What is senior care placement?
When the time comes for a senior to find senior care or living community that best fits their needs, it can be difficult to weed through all of the options, payment, schedule visits, and truly know if they place they are choosing is right for them. This can all be very overwhelming and stressful. That is where a local agency can help tremendously. As a senior care placement specialist, they have the relationships with many of the local communities, they can assess the personality type of the senior and determine which facility or community is the best fit. The placement specialist has done and will do all of the leg work so you do not have to. Therefore allowing the senior or the seniors family to make the best decision for their loved one.
What is the cost of placement services for my loved one?
Our placement services are 100% free to seniors and their loved ones. Our fees are collected via the organizations and communities that we work with.
How does placement work?
The very idea of placement is meant to make it easier for families. An initial conversation would take place to better asses what is needed, we would then set up an appointment either in person, via video call or on the phone to get all the details we need to meet your needs and put a plan in place. Once that is taken care of, we would schedule some appointments for you to visit 3 or 4 communities. Appointments can be done on your own but most families want their specialist with them so they can ask the right questions. Once a place is selected, we will assist with the paperwork and submit and set up the move in date. If you need help outside of placement, we offer additional services as well as an array of many resources such as movers, realtors, transportation specialists etc. Our job does not end once placement is secured, we are here to ensure you and your loved one get everything you need.
Why should I choose to work with Home Is Where You Are Senior Care Planning?
At HIWYA SCP we pride ourselves in serving our community. We have your best interest at heart because for us this is personal. This time of transition for a senior and their families can be emotional, stressful, overwhelming and we get that. Unlike most placement agencies we are not here to collect your information and blast it out to various communities. We do not share any of your personal information. Each family we work with is a unique and personal experience. We are a local family run business that has been through this process ourselves many times and is the reason we wanted to create a place for seniors and their loved ones to turn to.
Will have to call the senior care facilities myself?
Absolutely not! We make all the calls and set up all the appointments so you don’t have to. There is no reason for you to call 20 to 30 places only to find out most of them are not the right fit. Our assessment appointment will give us all the information we need to choose a few options that best fit your loved one’s lifestyle, personality, and medical needs. This coupled with our insider knowledge of the local communities and facilities will allow us to present you with the best fit options.
How do I know if it is time for my loved one to transition to senior care?
There are many early signs such as forgetting to take medicine, falls, unable to do daily tasks, confusion, getting lost, depression, loss of appetite etc. These are just some of the signs. Our 10 signs your loved one needs care page has a detailed list that can help you better determine if care is right for your loved one.
I know my loved one can no longer live alone but they refuse to seek out senior care and cannot afford in-home care. What should I do?
This can sometimes be the hardest part of the entire process. In most cases this would be a series of conversations with your loved one letting them know how much you care and how their well-being is what matters. Being patient and not forcing anything is key. We can also guide you through this process and help you map out a strategy.
Does Medicare or Medicaid pay for assisted living?
In most cases Medicare only pays for post-acute skilled nursing care, for a maximum of 100 days if certain requirements are met. Medicaid is a state-administered program. In the state of Texas “waivers” are sometimes granted to allow for a lower cost payment depending on eligibility.
